Marshals Registration for Motorfest - 28th August - now open

The Ormskirk Motorfest has grown to be the biggest event of it’s kind in the UK.

To ensure the safe and efficient running of the event, we require a small army of volunteer marshals for various enjoyable duties during the course of the event.

These range from:

  • Helping with the arrival and placement of vehicles in the Town Centre and Coronation Park.
  • Marshalling the Parade Route
  • Assisting with management of the Town Centre vehicle paddocks pre and post parades.

Marshals will be provided with refreshments during the day, with those registering for all day duties receiving a complimentary packed lunch as well as a cash contribution to travel costs.

RAY COLLIER

A leading wheel and tyre specialist with a global reputation.

Tuesday 7 December 2021

Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa, Thornton Hough, Wirral CH63 1JF

Doors open 7pm. Supper from 7.15pm followed by talk.

I started my career from University at what was Rolls Royce and Bentley Motors in Crewe from 2001, just as VW group took over.

I was Chassis Representative at VW group sign off events for Bentley and Chassis Production Liaison for Arnage F6 and Gen 1 Continental GT. I then moved to chassis test for a few years before working as ESP calibration on GT60 Arnage 831 and a little bit with the State Limousine.

After that I went into wheel and tyre development, working up to Technical Specialist and Acting Senior Engineer on all Bentley models, before I left Bentley Motors to work at Kumho Tyres as Senior Engineer on tyre development for all manufacturers and magazine tests.

I then started my own tyre development company and - in parallel - Bentley asked me to support the group events again as a Contract Engineer on Bentayga for NVH.

Once Bentayga launched I was too busy to do my own tyre development and Bentley work, so tried to leave again but they kept me on to do driver training and press events as a Service Contractor.

I recently -  after 20 years of working for Bentley -  bought my own Bentayga, a genuine factory owned sales and marketing vehicle.

My talk will include many items, such as how Bentley test behind closed doors, stories from unknown prototypes and how Bentley influenced Rolls Royce -  even in the movies!”

Ray Collier’s talk will be of interest to owners of other marques and all motoring enthusiasts, as his knowledge of wheels and tyres is broad ranging.

Non-members of the Bentley Drivers Club will be most welcome.

Includes 2-course supper with coffee to follow

  • Steak pie with chips (for veggie option, let Joanna know)
  • Sticky toffee pudding

Drinks from the bar to your own account.

Cost: £27.50 per person. Pre-booking essential!
